Following the announcement made by the management of Shoprite, a South African owned business chain, on its decision to suspend its operations in Nigeria, many Nigerians have been reacting to the decision. Some believe it is a good thing for the nation, while others will surely miss the services provided by Shoprite. The reaction has also been extended to DSTV and GOtv, another South African owned company in Nigeria operating under Multi-choice Nigeria Limited.
Some have said that they wished DSTV and GOtv will follow Shoprite and exit the country too. Many believe that their exit from the country is long overdue, considering the exorbitant rates Nigerians are made to pay for their satellite TV subscription. Many are of the view that allowing them exit the country will give more room for the development of our own locally owned business.
DSTV and GOtv have been providing satellite TV services to Nigerians for years now, but some people believe that the cost of subscribing to their services particularly, DSTV is too high for an average Nigeria. This is why people are saying that DSTV and GOtv which are owned by South Africans and are operated in Nigeria under Multi-Choice Nigeria Limited, should also follow Shoprite and exit the country.
Do you support the idea that DSTV and GOtv should also leave the country? Let us hear from you by commenting below
