Even if you don’t leave the spaceship or the International Space Station for a space walk, space flight can produce a number of alterations to the human body. Tim Peake, a British astronaut, has described the flu-like symptoms he had following his flight away from Earth, which included a puffy face and plugged nose.

Everyone understands that space is a dangerous place for people. However, you may not be aware that simply departing Earth’s atmosphere can have a significant impact on the body. Tim Peake has highlighted the minute alterations that you detect when you float through space.

A period of time spent away from gravity may cause significant changes in the body.

Many astronauts realize they’ve grown taller when they return home, and the longer they’ve been gone, the taller they become.

Norishige Kanai, a Japanese astronaut, reported in 2018 that after only three weeks on the International Space Station, he had grown about an inch (ISS).

Because there is no gravity, the vertebrae in the spine can spread apart, increasing height.

While astronauts may not notice the difference, they do experience some sensations “instantaneously,” according to Peake.

According to him, the sensation of weightlessness is immediately obvious after unbuckling your seatbelt.

But it’s not just the airy sensation astronauts experience; the weightlessness can even make you feel ill.

Due to the lack of gravity, you also feel like you’re hunching more frequently, which is a “strange” sensation, he noted.

Peake told This website, “You experience the affects of weightlessness instantly.”

“You can feel the shift in your body fluid when the primary energy shuts off and you reach weightlessness.

“You can feel yourself becoming puffy-faced, your nose becoming a little blocked, your inter-cranial pressure rising, and you can kind of feel it.

“It feels like you have a cold or the flu, and you have that stuffy nose feeling.

“You’ll notice that your shoulders are much more stooped when you come out of the spacecraft and are permitted to float freely; that’s where they like to be.

“On Earth, they are merely pulled down by gravity. As a result, you begin to mold your body into this semi-foetal position, which is the calm, natural position in weightlessness. It’s a one-of-a-kind situation.”

Astronauts may potentially return to Earth significantly lighter than they were when they left.

In the absence of exercise, it is usual to lose muscle mass. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
