This is why most Nigerians eventually get fired from work, lose there job or never get that job they applied for.
A good percentage of job seekers in Nigeria make this mistake and don't realise it and the result has always been negative.
DON’T claim expertise you don’t have.
Many job seekers claim to be “fluent” in the entire Microsoft Office Suite,
When what they really mean is, “I use Microsoft Word and I’ve opened PowerPoint a few times.”
you claimed that you are proficient in Microsoft office on your CV, you are simply saying that you are very good in
 Excel
 PowerPoint
 Access
 Word
 Visio
 Project
Outlook
The real question is, are you really good in everything you stated?
Some people are less than truthful about their skill level on job applications and during interviews! Gasp! Really?
Even if they don’t deliberately fib, at a minimum, applicants often tend to overrate their true Excel skill levels.
After all, who doesn’t want to sound like a great candidate?
So, when the interviewer asks if you are proficient at using complex Pivot tables, Vlookup, Macros in Microsoft Excel,
It is real easy to just smile and say “yes.”
Even if you don’t really know what a “Pivot table” is.
But hey, you’ve probably used Excel, at least a little.
How hard can it be? However, if asked to prove it – right then and there – would you be ready?
Hope that was helpful and has set you in the right track of knowledge.
Ignorance is a disease which must be avoided.
