Emirese is a small community in Delta state, a community highly oppressed and exploited by criminals. Farmers and market women lost their money to herdsmen, petit armed robbers and bag-snatchers. Sometimes, they were even killed in the process. Something had to be done to put an end to this mess.
A stronger vigilante group was formed. Chief Obiaka believed this team of spiritually equipped young men would be more effective than policemen in the area. Work begun, crime rate started falling.
On one fateful day, two men were arrested for breaking into a residential house, killing a husband and kidnapping the wife. Before the took away the woman, they had requested the woman cooked some rice for them which she did. Mbu the vigilante leader had spotted the shadow of two men, one woman sneaking through the bush. They were halted, arrested and locked up.
In the morning, the woman was freed (she narrated the whole story to everyone). The vigilante group went to unlock and expose the criminals to the public. On getting there, what they saw shocked them in their bones. The two young men were no way to be found...they had disappeared or transformed into two strange animals. What will we in not see in this world?
