Virginity of women as to be confirmed on first night:

In those days, when the husband and wife meet first night, they laid white linen in expectation of blood stain the following morning.

If there be stain, she bringeth honor to her kindred.

If no stain, she bringeth shame to her kin.

While no one is insisting on such practices, we must not lose the lessons and principles embedded therein.

Today, we lost both the culture and the principles therein.

What a great loss! :yrc:

I will not place the finger of blame on religion, but I blame every parent on misplaced values.
Many of our cultures are dying out. Unfortunately, I think its a helpless situation.

In those days, if a lady is giving a man something especially older men and husbands, they always knelt down completely. But these days, the kneely down as a sign of respect of headship is a thing of the past.

Gone are those days when a responsible young man in Yorubaland will prostrate completely to greet the elders. Gone are those days....

Lets share here all cultural trends and values and habits that are gradually being phased out. In those days, each culture has many ways of doing things. Most of these have been done away with and alas! Many are on the line, gradually disappearing. Lets talk about them.
