A preacher was called to the prison for the naming of the child and he started by saying
“ Innocent children ought not to suffer for the actions of their parents . Sometimes we are invited to name a child in the prison ,
"How many children do we have here?
"8 children” they chorused.
How did the children get there?
Nobody is above the law, even pregnant women. Whether you are pregnant and commit an offence or you are even a nursing mum while commiting the offence, you will still face the wrath of the law depending on the level of offence you commit.
If you get pregnant in the prison, it doesn't mean you will be set free before on that account.
In Kenya, women protested and said, “The Government, through the leadership of Kenyan prisons, should introduce a law that allows women serving lengthy jail terms enjoy sexual intimacy with their visiting husbands," really body no be firewood.
In Nigeria here, conjugal visits are not allowed yet , but women still get pregnant.

“ We get Cerelac , NAN 123 and Golden Morn . They share baby milk among us".
The young children attend the prison creche which opens from 8 am to 3 pm , for morning session ; and at 6 pm , for evening session , daily .
In 2017, “ Survey on Women Prisoners / Detainees and Babies Living in Nigerian Prisons ,” a non -governmental organisation , Citizens United for the Rehabilitation of Errants, said of the 198 female inmates it interviewed in the Female Prison , Kirikiri , Lagos ; Port Harcourt Prison in Rivers State , and Enugu Prison , 30 were with children while 17 were pregnant .
In 2010, it was reported that there were 300 children in the Nigerian prisons under mother care, now it is about above 961
