To serving corp members, I will advise you look beyond. If you did well in school, then your service year is the time to scout for scholarships for an advanced degree and apply. Also network. Many of the guys and gals you met in camp are highly connected. Do not be an island of your own, meet people, exchange contacts and keep the communication flowing. Your first job might come through that nerdish looking chap or the mouthy babe. Also start applying for jobs 3 months before you finish your service year. Remember old colleagues from your university days who studied the same course with you. Your awareness about most job opportunities in your field will come from that set.

GET A GOOD JOB: A good job will be one that’s well paying and secured i.e you wont get fired

FURTHER EDUCATION: Get a masters, most times abroad

GET MARRIED: This is most popular for ladies because marriage secures them, no worries, the husband pays the bills

A GOOD BUSINESS: Start up that dream business you been hatching for long

Of course the no1 option would be "a job," the key question is, "what kind of job?"
Would it be as a "paid-employee" or as a "self-employed" person?
Would you be subject to the daily grind of paid-employment or committed to creating your own legacy and success by being self-employed?
To me, being self-employed is a better option; it can be your path to success if you just know how to go about it.
Ultimately, the choice is yours, but remember that, currently about 60 million Nigerian youth are unemployed, hopeful on the few, hardly available jobs... :thnk:
Instead of wasting years relying on some unpredictable job opening, why not invest in creating a solid legacy today?

We are gradually moving into a world where only people with useful skills and ideas but not phds and degrees will survive. Apply your skills after NYSC. Shikena!

Go into business? With about 60% of the votes above pointing to 'a good job', now we know the mentality of an average nigerian. So sad.

None of you graduates is ever thinking of starting a business with at least N30K that you have used to buy yourself a blackberry that does not put money in your pocket.
I finished my NYSC three years ago and i had an expensive Nokia N90 Phone that was not putting money in my pocket,my old secondary school mate who had two shops in computer village and has only OND offered to employ me and pay me N20K every month. When he paid the first month he laughed at me and said my friend you are showing off with an expensive phone made for rich guys and you are a job seeker..He went ahead to tell me that he started with a show glass and N10K worth of goods and four years after he had his first shop.he strongly advised me to sell the nokia N90 add the N20K and start up with a show glass in his front immediately which i did and today by the Grace of God i have my own shop where i sell cell phones, laptops, networking materials,i go to china to buy my goods, i have built my own boys qtrs and i am married.
No boss is asking me to resume by 7am,get targets and close by 8pm like you job seekers want to do..
The list of richest men in LAGOS,BENIN,KANO,PHC,GHANA,UK,USA,AUSTRIA and the whole world has no salary earner or job worker on it.

Be wise sell that expensive BB and convert the money to capital before you become too old to be employed now that private universities are flooding graduates of 20yrs-24yrs of age
