Nigeria's FG, CBN, DSS allegedly cracking down on EndSARS protesters, arrest, block accounts, more

by NiceGuy » November 13th, 2020, 8:37 am

Its all over the news and media, that the federal government of Nigeria, the DSS and through the CBN and some courts are allegedly cracking down on at least 20 major active young Nigerians during the #EndSARS. Actions taken include among others:

1. Arrest and detention of some, including WhatsApp groups admins
2. Freezing of accounts of some, for example, Rinu
3. Criminal allegation, for example, charging them for possible terrorism and treason
4. Travel restrictions
images - 2020-11-06T123629.814.jpeg
There are specific cases to buttress these points. Take a look at these:

1. CBN, Nigeria FG allegedly freezing accounts of #EndSARS protesters support donations

2.EndSARS Promoter, Rinu On Frozen Account: I Am Disappointed In Nigeria

3. Police detain #EndSARS protests WhatsApp group administrators

DSS STATES WHY?
When stating the reasons for these crackdowns, here is a press release by the DSS:
Why DSS Ordered #EndSARS Promoters’ Bank Accounts Frozen
In that news article, the #DSS stated that the crackdown is because they have information that these protesters were used to possibly overthrow Buhari's government. They are being charged with terrorism and treason! That's extreme. Read that news article.

HOODLUMS TOOK OVER!
Is it the right of Nigerians to protest peacefully? I guess yes, theoretically.
But the protest was later taken over by 'HOODLUMS' whose identities cannot be ascertained. Many theories have emerged on the identity of these hoodlums. Many allegations too that are too sensitive to state repeatedly.

The hoodlums are supposedly different from the peaceful protesters many of which sat at #Lekki tollgate, holding Nigerian flag and singing the National Anthem before the alleged #LekkiShootings. These hoodlums need to be brought to book. These #hoodlums burnt those buses and those property.

WHAT'S YOUR OPINION?
Now, I am not here to state whether what the FGN/CBN are doing is right or wrong. I am posting to seek opinions of Nigerians.

What is your view on these alleged moves by the Federal Governemnt and CBN and DSS? Is this the best way to handle this situation?
