The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Ibrahim Muhammad, has said that the judiciary is not responsible for the delay in the trial of corruption cases involving high profile politicians.
In a statement on Tuesday signed by his media aide, Ahuraka Isah, the CJN accused the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister, Abubakar Malami, of selling a “one-sided” narrative to Nigerians.
Recall that Malami, who was a guest on Channels Television’s program, Politics Today, on Monday, had blamed the judiciary for the perceived delays in the conclusion of high-profile corruption cases.

The Governor spoke on Tuesday at his office in Akure the Ondo State capital when he played host to members of a group, Power Rotation Movement, led by its Chairman, Dr Pogu Bitrus, who also doubles as the Chairman, Middle Belt Forum.
Akeredolu’s declaration comes amidst calls for the political parties in the country to zone their 2023 presidential ticket to the southern region of the country.
He maintained that in the spirit of fairness and justice, the person to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari should be a southerner as the north would have completed eight straight years of leadership by 2023.
He also countered those saying competence must be considered above zoning, stating that there are many capable candidates from the southern region that can lead Nigeria.
4. Nigerians Battling With Incompetent Visionless Leaders – IBB
Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has stated that Nigerians are expressing resentment towards autocrats, mediocre, ethnic champions, incompetent and visionless leaders in the country.
Babangida shared his thoughts on the current situation of the country during a visit by the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorcha Ayu, alongside other members of the National Working Committee at his Hilltop Mansion in Minna, Niger State.
Reading from an already prepared speech, Babangida noted the importance of the political leaders to become the wind of change and get things done the right way, while also stressing the need to seize the moment and adequately manage the complexities of the competitive party and electoral politics with the interest of the public at heart, Naija News reports.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the activities of terrorists loyal to the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP) before they spread their tentacles in the country.
Ortom supported the statement made by his counterpart in Borno State, Babagana Zulum, that ISWAP fighters are more dangerous and deadlier than the Boko Haram insurgents.
The Benue governor also urged the Federal Government to take seriously the alarm raised by Governor Zulum on the recruitment of more fighters by the terrorist group.

As contained in the bill, citizens with educational qualifications lower than university decree will not be able to contest for federal and state legislature and governorship seats.

8. 2023 Presidency: PDP Set To Follow “Mood Of The Country” In Choosing Candidate
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is reportedly set to avoid a potential banana skin situation by following the ‘mood of the country’ in deciding its candidate for the 2023 presidential election.
Amidst calls for the 2023 presidency to be zoned to the south and the attendant rejection by northern politicians interested in the position, the party is said to be on the lookout for how the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will choose its own candidate before committing to the next step.
A source who spoke on the matter said the move is to avoid any crisis and also at the same time present an acceptable candidate to Nigerians.
The source claims the PDP intends to wait until the APC candidate emerges, gauge the reaction of Nigerians before eventually deciding on either to zone its own ticket or throw it open.
The PDP also intends to use the strategy to neutralize whichever option the APC adopts even as both parties continue to evaluate aspirants against the controversial issue of zoning the 2023 presidency.
