Every one of us today is very well aware of the word networking. The importance of networking is not just restricted to our career advancement, knowing certain unadvertised jobs but it is also helpful in fulfilling our personal needs: whether it is finding out a good salon or restaurant.

Everyone have some vision to accomplish in life, networking can help you in achieving your aim/vision. For a strong network you need both quantity and quality in terms of contacts.

Be Effective Professionally: Word of mouth is one of the most effective forms of marketing. Networking can help you in marketing yourself and have you and your company a profitable business with less investment.

Be in touch with your mentors and Supporters throughout your life,
as they are the once who can give you useful insights, understand your role and give you feedback which helps you in your personal as well professional life. Mentors can be any one, senior person, colleague, and peer. They have great attributes within them: great understanding, sense of politics, experience etc.

Ways to become a good networker:

Some people have myth that only extrovert people are good networkers. Both extrovert and as well introvert persons can be good networker.

Introvert persons are great listener which is required when the people are introducing themselves: what is required is an effort to meet more people and put your ideas and views in front of them.

Extrovert persons are great at meeting up people and putting out their ideas: what is required is to be a good listener as well.

Try to meet up with people other than your day to day friends and colleagues for a lunch, tea etc once a while in a month.

Perception: Looks doesn’t matters but how you walk, dress up, sound matters a lot as people also judge you from 12 inches away .

You can increase your network through social gatherings, professional association meetings and networking sites like bestnaija.Com, Linkedin, Twitter etc. And be careful not to waste precious time on social networking sites that may not actually add value to you; always take advantage of networking opportunities to add values to yourself, not indulging in making friends that will not improve you.

A strong network cannot be built up in a single day. It takes time to build up a strong network. :hi:

Whichever site you join I think what matters is setting the right priorities and putting limits.
