Job Summary
The job exists to provide strategic and functional leadership to the Finance Team at the Organisation. The role is responsible for providing financial direction, planning, and accounting to the business with the aim to meet short-term and long-term financial goals while ensuring fiscal compliance & governance. The role is also responsible for managing money and cash to maximize return on investment while minimizing risk and ensure that there is proper control structure is in place in managing investments.
Primary Responsibilities
Business strategy & financial management
contributes to the formation of the business strategy as a business partner and ensures that all financial policies, procedures, and systems are comprehensive;
prepares the company’s annual operating plan, business financial plan, and analytics;
responsible for designing an accounting structure adequate for achieving the company’s goals and objectives;
ensures effective control and corporate governance environment is created and embedded within the financial reporting function in line with the company policy and procedures including enterprise risk management;
prepares and presents the company’s financials at board meetings where required;
provides adequate support to the joint venture operations;
Funds management
forecasts cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment;
ensures that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements;
manages financial risks related to the interest rates on the company's borrowings, as well as on its foreign exchange positions;
manages the company’s equity and debt financing while maintaining banking relationships;
Budgeting and financial forecast
develops plans, budgets, forecasts and financial results to guide management decisions;
responsible for preparing the company’s operating and capital expenditure budgets for management review and approval;
responsible for budgets and ensuring goal actualization with regards to the finance and accounting function;
provides periodic updates to the management team on budget variance;
works closely with the management team in the formulation of overall strategic direction;
provides consulting services to line managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information and working with managers to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals of the organization;
Financial analysis
monitors financial performance by measuring and carrying out periodic analysis of the company’s financial position identifies gaps or areas of improvement that can realign the company towards achieving set goals and objectives;
responsible for presenting and reporting accurate and timely historical financial information of the ceo and board of directors;
monitors operating expenses, recommends and implements cost-cutting initiatives while still working within the company’s policies.
works closely with the sales and marketing department in costing products for the company;
manages the capital budgeting process, based on constraint analysis and discounted cash flow analysis;
conducts financial analysis and report as requested by executive management;
Accounting function
responsible for the development of policies and systems necessary for the effective running of the accounting and finance function;
advises management on matters of fiscal procedure and importance for the organization while ensuring compliance with the financial procedures of the organization;
handles tax matters and liaises with government bodies (lirs and firs), statutory audits and internal audits;
recommends and manages the company’s payroll structure in line with Lagos state internal revenue service (lirs) standards.
works closely with the human resources department in the effective management of payroll while ensuring that all required levies and statutory deductions are made as at when due.

Education Requirements
minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, banking, finance or related field;
possession of a professional accounting certification such as ican/acca is mandatory;
MBA/ master’s in finance or CFA is an added advantage.

The Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is primarily responsible for the financial well-being of the organization. They represent the Group’s interests in all investment and financial decisions, and in presentations and meetings related to the promotion, development, funding, delivery, and evaluation of the Group’s operations within approved policy and authority limits. They provide financial projections, accounting services, and managing the financial risks of the Group. This includes financial planning and record-keeping, as well as financial reporting to the CEO and COO.
Primary Responsibilities

Strategic
develops and articulates a comprehensive financial and risk management strategy for the company;
acts as chief advisor and strategist providing needed support to the group CEO and coo, employees and board with respect to the identification of financial risk, and the resolution of attendant issues;
liaises with external financial service organizations, as may be required, to ensure the business remains adequately funded in terms of debt, equity and working capital requirements;

develops and implements effective finance and accounting systems, processes, procedures, and policies which provide effective controls in the deployment and utilization of capital and assets;
manages the budgetary process to ensure all budgets adequately reflect periodic resource requirements and revenue estimates for the business; co-ordinates the periodic financial performance monitoring and reporting activities of the group;
approves all finance & accounting transactions and ensures processes/procedures are effective and comply with regulatory and statutory requirements; monitors the group’s financial books/position and signs off on any adjustments to ensure effective controls;
supervises the preparation and dispatch of periodic statutory returns to regulatory authorities as required;
effectively manages the group’s asset, debt, cost and profitability position and establishes an appropriate framework for the prompt rendition of returns to investors, and for repayments of debt (monitors/manages facilities with financial institutions);
Financial reporting
ensures compliance with ifrs, GAAP and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting;
implement continuous financial monitoring and control systems to monitor the financial performance of all the businesses with regards to adherence to the budget, the expenditures, the income, the cost of operations, etc;
ensure that the group has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures to meet operational and financial targets;
Treasury
identify and report what areas of the group are most efficient and how the group can capitalize on this information;
monitors cash balances and cash forecasts, arranges for debt and equity financing, invests funds and maintains the group’s loan portfolio;
Financing
where appropriate, represents the group/subsidiary to the external financing community through effective communications, participation in project financing workshops and other events;
develops and utilizes financial models and activity-based financial analysis to provide a basis for investment decisions and business planning;
supervises investment and raising of funds for businesses;
communication
communicates directly, and on behalf of the CEO, with board members, executives and senior management, staff members, strategic partners, external parties and others as directed;

manage the performance of all staff in the finance and accounting function. develops the capability of subordinates towards the achievement of their own performance target.
