I keep receiving an sms requesting my ATM details; how can I find out who the owners of the phone numbers are? Should I contact MTN? Will they be willing to tell me who has the registered SIX card?

Please someone should tell me!

In fact, those miscreants will not let us rest.

Blah blah, due to bvn , your ATM has been blocked. Call our customer service on so so.

They are fraudster. To know the source, you have two options.

1. If the SMS is from a real number, then that's the source. Especially too when they ask you to call certain number, that person to call will be the one asking you for your card details. That's the 419. Report him to the police, DSS, ICPC, EFCC, etc

2. Sometimes too they use bulk SMS. Then the sender number may be nonexistent or just a name. If you are to call a number, report that number to authorities. To get the source of that bulk SMS, mtn a and other ISP can help.

Conclusion: Do not disclose your card details to anyone. That guy they ask you to call is the thief. Get him arrested.

Mtn may not be able to tell you who registered the sims. But they can tell police and EFCC or ICPC. Report to and work with police.

If they use same number or name each time, TrueCaller app can block SMS and calls for you. Simply add them to the blocked list. Also, you can instruct TC to block calls and SMS from spam-reported line. You can also tell it to block all bulk sms or short codes. Just that the last option may make u lose out on many legit info.
