As we speak, the novel Coronavirus Covid-19 has infected over 600,000 globally and killed over 30,000 people. Here are some facts (known and unknown) about #Covid19.

1. Origin of virus [UNKNOWN]
Donald Trump adamantly calls Covid-19 a Chinese virus. It was initially named Wuhan Coronavirus until WHO stepped in and renamed it Covid-19.

Yes, the first news of the infection came up at Wuhan, China at a seafood market.

However, there are great speculations that the virus may not necessarily have originated from Wuhan, China. So, origin remains a mystery.

2. Vaccine [UNKNOWN]
No proven or approved vaccine yet for Covid-19. Everyone is at risk of being infected. No one is immune.

3. Cure [UNKNOWN]
No approved or known cure for now.

Researches into both vaccine and cure with some trial drugs are ongoing.

4. Transmission [KNOWN]
Touch (Direct): It is confirmed that the Coronavirus can be transmitted from infected person to another via bodily contact by touch.
Touch (Indirect): Door knobs, railings, tables, utensils etc touched by infected persons can serve as intermediate medium of transmission to a new person who touches such objects.
Droplets: Closeness to a carrier can lead to droplet transmissions vie breathing and coughing and sneezing.

5. Prevention [KNOWN]
Considering the modes of transmission above, social distancing, hygiene and not touching one's face will cut the transmission cycle.

6. Life span (Virus) [KNOWN]
In living host: of course, virus will continue to attack host system and keep replicating till host dies.
Outside living host: In air, on metal or other surfaces, virus cannot last up to 12 hours before dying.

7. Infection Mode [KNOWN]
Covid-19 attacks receptor cells in the lungs of infected humans and leads to pneumonia and respiratory difficulty.

8. Mortality rate [UNKNOWN]
As of now, it's less than 5% globally
