Banks perform two functions:
1. Supplying a money transmission service.
2. Borrowing and lending.
A bank account opens three major possibilities to the ordinary account holder:
1.He can move money from one place to another without having to handle any cash.
2.He can leave money with the bank for safekeeping and earn interest on it.
3.He can borrow money from the bank.
Banks do provide other services as well: they act as executors and trustees, for example, and can help you to manage your investments. But these are secondary to the main services.
Transmitting money
one of the main task of a bank is to provide a money transmission service. All cash is money(provide it is legal to tender)but not all money is cash. Daily life would be impossible if it were. Imagine the problems of an industrialist having to pay for a #5,000,000 factory in dirty one-nairy notes. Even if he was physically capable of picking them up,he could hardly send them by post to the contractor 100km away.so he uses bank to move his money.
