Why does banking job suck so much now in Nigeria? It has now become slave trade purely. Imagine how a profit making bank employs degree holders as contract staff with no benefits but only stipend of less than 70k.

Wait!
Wait. I know some people will be fast to criticize me that about 70k is sufficient given the pitiable unemployment level of the country. Well, 70k is not bad for a decent job, but if you know what banking job takes away from your life, you would know its not worth it.

The irony?
Yes, the irony is... Many unemployed graduates are dying to get this slavery job, while those already doing it are lamenting and stuck and wishing they could get out. Doesn't that send a signal that something is wrong? An average operations contract staff in those banks works for 11-13 hours daily. What a mess, under intense pressure of workload. What a mess.

What you deserve?
Yes, many of them do not know what they really deserve. You don't know your worth. You see a 70k job that will take your life away, you grab it with zeal. That's what you are worth? Then you are so du....

The problems?
The problems are our bad economy, bad education system, poor or lack of the right orientations, and lack of information and good self worth, and also lack of proper employees protection laws in our land, or lack of its enactment.

Bad education.
Our education system is designed to turn us into slaves. Corporate slaves. Rich Dad Poor Dad (book) by Robert Kiyosaki is an eye opener. Many of our graduates have good talents that can turn them into CEOs and employers, but they chose slavery each day. Wake up! Discover yourself, and be your own boss.

Orientations?
Must you work for another man? Who told you that you cannot succeed in your business? Well, go to school, pass, and become a slave in a good company. If everyone followed that slavery line, who would we all work for?

Lack of proper information leads to poor decisions. Seek the right information. Is that job worth it? Then, is that the only option? Can you continue studying instead? Seek proper info and advice.

Employees protection laws ke?
If they exist and if enacted, they will ensure the employee-employer relationship is mutually beneficial! And not one-sided. Also, in case of breach, the employee may be fought for and protected appropriately. Also, such laws stipulate the optimum bearable working environment and human working hours for employment. It will also protect minimum wage requirements.
But does this happen in Nigeria? I doubt.

Conclusion?
Banking job in Nigeria for new intake graduates sucks, and will continue to enslave more and more naive graduates.

Am sorry. This is all I can do about it.

The truth of the matter is... Our banks are taking advantage of our graduates due to unemployment rate in the country, and not that they cannot take care of these staff well. They are just selfish. That's the problem.
